Introducing Katalon True Platform: AI Agents for the Full Testing Lifecycle
Learn with AI
Software testing has a fragmentation problem. Most teams run test generation in one tool, execution in another, defect tracking in a third, and pull together release decisions from whatever they can stitch together at the last minute. Every handoff between tools is a gap where context gets lost, work gets duplicated, and quality suffers.
Katalon True Platform closes those gaps. It brings test case generation, autonomous execution, defect reporting, root cause analysis, production monitoring, and release intelligence into a single platform, coordinated through six purpose-built AI agents and the Katalon AI Assistant.
AI is accelerating how software is built. More code, more changes, less time to verify. Teams are asked to adopt AI to move faster and still guarantee quality. Do we guarantee the quality of what we're shipping? Most teams don't. It's because testing is fragmented, signals are scattered, while development speed keeps increasing. You don't need more tools. You need an AI platform that can validate at the speed of AI. Introducing Katalon True Platform, an AI native platform powered by intelligent agents. From requirements to execution, Katalon AI agents understands what needs to be tested and generates full test coverage. They take care of the heavy lifting while you stay in control. They connect testing, defects analysis, and real user signals to help you make confident release decisions. And with every run, they get smarter, continuously improving quality over time, working alongside you across the entire SDLC so you can deliver quality software with confidence at the speed of AI. Katalon True Platform, the AI platform for software quality.
The agents aren't bolted-on features. They're built to work together, sharing context across the full lifecycle so your team spends less time wiring things together and more time on the work that actually requires human judgment.
How True Platform works
True Platform is a complete quality workflow built on a unified quality platform architecture - one data layer, six agents, and a shared context that connects every stage of the testing lifecycle. Each agent handles a specific stage of the testing lifecycle, then hands off to the next with full context intact. No exports, no copy-pasting between tools, no manual handoffs.
Here's how the six agents work together:

Here's what each agent does:
| AI Agents at Work Each agent owns a step. Your team owns the outcome. |
|
|---|---|
| REQUIREMENT ANALYZER | Analyzes and validates requirements before a single test is written: identifying ambiguities, flagging gaps, and defining a testing plan so your team starts from a solid foundation. |
| TEST GENERATION AGENT | Automatically generates the minimum set of test cases needed to cover a requirement, from Jira or Azure DevOps tickets or uploaded documents (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, or image). Cases link back to the source requirement in your ALM. |
| AUTONOMOUS TEST RUNNER | Executes manual test cases in the background on a real browser (no scripting required) capturing a screenshot at every step and a full video with clickable timestamps. Runs with AI only once every test case in the suite is rated High confidence, and supports parallel runs across qualifying suites. |
| ROOT CAUSE ANALYZER | Pinpoints the root cause of each test failure: classifying it as a script issue, application bug, or flaky test, and tracks suite-level stability trends so teams know what to fix and in what order. |
| BUG REPORTER | Identifies failures and automatically composes structured defect tickets from test results (error messages, failed steps, screenshots), then files them to Jira or Azure DevOps. Every ticket goes through a human review checkpoint before submission. |
| REPORT & INSIGHT GENERATOR | Answers plain-language questions about coverage, defect trends, and release readiness from live platform data. Delivers a GO/NO-GO recommendation against configured thresholds when you need one. |
The agents are designed to hand off to each other seamlessly. Watch how that works in practice:
Hello and welcome to the Katalon True Platform. In this video, I will answer some key questions about the platform. What is it? How does the AI in the platform work? And how can it help me in my work? The True Platform is an agentic AI platform for software quality. It is designed for QA teams to provide manual testers, automation engineers, QA managers, and test leads with a single solution for their workflows. So now let's discuss how AI in True Platform works. The AI in Katalon True Platform works across three layers, the data and context layer, the agent library, and finally, the access layer. Let's explore them. The data and context layer is the foundation of the platform. It unifies data from the software testing lifecycle, like test cases, execution scripts, with data from the development side like requirements, PRDs, technical product information, and finally data from the production side about the experience of real users in production or customers who are using our production insights module. Some of this data is produced by the platform itself. Some of it is acquired through integrations with your other tools and technologies. True Platform then associates this data and gives it context, as well as standardized set of semantics to describe it. This data and context layer is the foundation that AI feeds on to produce results. The second layer is the agentic layer with a library of specialized agentic workers. These workers are your extended team. They perform specialized tasks like analyzing requirements, generating test cases, running a test autonomously reporting bugs identified as a root cause analysis, and generating insights or reports for you summarizing the data in the layer. They're designed to save you time under your supervision. This brings us to our third layer, the access layer. Users leverage AI through two mechanisms in the True Platform. The first is through chat with your Katalon AI Assistant. It can invoke any agent, access all the data on the platform. It can orchestrate tasks across multiple agents, such as tasks in parallel, like running ten tests at the same time. The second mechanism is to invoke AI agents one agent at a time from within the UI of the module. So for example, say you're a manual tester and you want to convert the set of requirements into a test case. You will use the generate test case button from within the manual testing. In either case, the Katalon AI platform works within your workspace alongside you. AI proposes, but you must review, edit as appropriate, and approve any artifact it creates. This is a key design philosophy for the True Platform. Now to illustrate this, I'm going to demo these two ways of using AI. First, we will use a single button from a module. In this example, we are in the manual testing module, and we want to create a test case from a set of requirements. I select the requirements and filter for any that have been assigned to myself. Then I proceed by clicking the generate test case button, and this action will invoke the agentic worker. After automatically analyzing my requirements and asking me to provide any additional context, I can see a number of test cases being created in my view. This could take me hours to cover this requirement. Here we can see we can get started within seconds. I can click on the proposed test cases and make any edits to them if required. Now my second example will be in relation to the Katalon AI Assistant. Let's say I am a manual tester and I want to create automated test cases against requirements assigned to me. Via the Katalon AI Assistant, I can check for requirements assigned to me and automate against them simply through one conversation. You will notice as it is executing the task at hand, our AI Assistant has the ability ability to interact with all agents, create artifacts as needed, and easily allows us to review these artifacts for approval or editing purposes if required. So this was a quick introduction to using AI in the Katalon True Platform to assist you with your workflows. What True Platform means for your team
True Platform is designed for the full QA team, not just one role. Here's what changes depending on how you work:
For Manual Testers
The hours you spend writing test cases and filing defect tickets shrink dramatically. The Test Case Generator and Bug Reporter handle the repetitive documentation work, which frees you up for the exploratory testing, edge case thinking, and domain expertise that no AI agent can replace. Your judgment becomes the bottleneck in a good way.
For Automation Engineers
Execution runs without the usual script maintenance overhead. When runs fail, the Root Cause Analyzer gives you a starting point instead of a stack trace and a shrug. You spend more time improving test architecture and less time firefighting broken runs.
For QA Managers and Team Leads
Release decisions backed by actual data instead of gut feel and status update meetings. The Report & Insight Generator gives you coverage, defect trends, and a GO/NO-GO recommendation pulled from real results, not manually assembled from five different sources.
Why we built True
AI is being added to testing tools everywhere. But most of it is additive: a copilot here, an assistant there, layered onto workflows that are still fundamentally disconnected. You still end up copying outputs from one tool into another. You still lose context at every handoff.
📚 Read more: If your team is evaluating whether to consolidate around True Platform, this practical buyer's guide covers how to map your current stack, define non-negotiables, run a pilot, and calculate ROI.
We built True Platform differently. The six agents share context across the full lifecycle. When the Test Case Generator creates a test, the Autonomous Test Runner already knows how to execute it. When a test fails, the Bug Reporter already has the evidence. When the Root Cause Analyzer identifies a pattern, the Report & Insight Generator already factors it into the release recommendation.
That connected context is the difference. It's not about having AI in your testing stack. It's about having AI that actually understands the full picture, operating within the kind of governance framework where human judgment stays at the center of every release decision.
True Platform and Katalon Studio
If you're an existing Katalon Studio user, here's the short version: Studio is still here, and it's still the test authoring and execution engine you know.
True Platform wraps Studio in a much larger system. Everything Studio does is still available, but now it sits alongside AI-powered test generation, autonomous execution, automated defect management, root cause analysis, production telemetry, and release intelligence. Studio is one part of the platform, not the whole thing.
Katalon Studio is now accessible through True Platform, so when you start a free trial, you get the full experience. If you want to see how it fits your team's workflow, the best place to start is by trying it yourself.
